The Giacomo Puccini Choir was born from an initiative of Maestro Marco Trasatti who in 1998 founded the Coro Sperimentale Versiliese, an amateur group made up of non-professional singers united by a passion for music. The following year, with the approval of Mrs. Simonetta Puccini, granddaughter of the great maestro, he took the name 'Corale Giacomo Puccini' and undertook an initiative of introductory courses in choral singing and musical theory.
The Giacomo Puccini Choir aims, among other things, to study and perform the music of Giacomo Puccini, with particular attention to pieces from works less represented in the world of melodrama, and the promotion of activities aimed at the valorisation and re-evaluation of events linked to the history of our territory, also with the use of different artistic languages such as videos, dance, acting.
The direction of the choir is entrusted to Maestro Marco Trasatti with a degree in Composition, Choral Music and Choral Conducting.
In addition to pieces from works by Puccini, Mascagni, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini and Gounod, the repertoire of the Giacomo Puccini Choir includes pieces of sacred music composed by Vivaldi, Mozart, Arcadelt, Frank and some compositions by Maestro Trasatti. The Choir studied the ancient processional songs of the Dead Jesus transcribed and printed by maestro Trasatti. He also studied the first carnival songs, some of which were arranged and printed by maestro Trasatti.
During the Christmas holidays, every year the Giacomo Puccini Choir offers, in addition to the usual repertoire, a large concert season of traditional Italian and European Christmas songs.
